• Ghostly “Baby Dragons” Spotted Above Ground!
For centuries, the olm — a pale, cave-dwelling salamander nicknamed “baby dragon” — was thought to live its entire life in underground darkness.
But scientists in northern Italy just made a wild discovery: these elusive creatures are emerging into the light.
Olms were spotted in 15 surface springs, even during daylight — a hostile environment for such specialized cave animals.
One larval olm was even found out in the open, raising questions about possible surface breeding!
Even weirder? They’re snacking on surface earthworms. Researchers say these trips aren’t accidents — they’re feeding, and thriving.
This eerie evolution defies everything we thought we knew about Europe’s most mysterious amphibian. The shadows are shifting…

  • I disappear sometimes. Not just because I like to remind people I can't always be there for them—it's just there are moments when I want to feel everything on my own. There are times when I want to be alone so I'll get used to it.
I think people easily get drunk on the idea that some will always be there when they need them. But in the grand scheme of things, we're all just trying to get through our own ****. We all have days when everything falls apart and there's no one to turn to—you just have to get used to depending on yourself.
I disappear sometimes to grow. To patch myself up. To get used to getting up on my own, and in a way, to let other people know I can't always be there for them even if I want to—because some days are just so heavy I need to be selfish and save myself first.

    "ABSQUATULATE"

    absquatulate
    Other forms: absquatulated; absquatulating; absquatulates

Absquatulate is a deeply silly word that means to make off with something or someone. Why say a thief ran away with your money when it's much more fun to say he absquatulated with it?

The word absquatulate came out of an odd fad in America in the 1830s for making playful words that sounded vaguely Latin. Bloviate ("speak pompously") and discombobulate ("make confused") are two other pseudo-Latin coinages from that era. Absquatulate takes the word squat and adds the prefix ab- "off, away" and the verb ending -ulate to suggest getting up and leaving quickly. It's hardly ever used nowadays, mostly showing up as an example of an absurd word.

    Definitions of absquatulate
verb run away; usually includes taking something or somebody along
synonyms: abscond, bolt, decamp, go off, make off, run off

Laughing came before language. How do we know? Some researchers tickled baby apes, which, beyond being adorable, showed that they share the same structure as ours and likely arose in our common ancestors millions of years ago. Language came about much later.
