Jelous Heart: The Con Confession

The tale focuses on the fact that some women are still being denied their own freedom and dignity no matter how many time has passed and this story goes around as a defense of a woman who was wrongfully accused by her husband and using clever deception as a strategy to outwit someone who continuously try to dominate or deceive her, and her control in the situation she has no power over.

In the city of Arimino, a wealthy man full of himself became irrational and obsessively jealous when it comes to his wife, a young beautiful lady despite having no proof that his wife was having an affair with someone—no cause for suspicion– is just full of assumptions based on nothing. He seems to be so paranoid but maybe he does really have a reason because Despite the control he has over his wife, the woman spots a young man living right next door and  starts communicating with the young man through a hidden hole in the wall secretly but the woman was asked to confess on christmas day and her husband disguises himself as a priest to hear his wife’s faked confession wherein she claims a priest uses spells to enter her room each night and her husband actually believed everything she said, he begins waiting at the door while the real lover of his wife enters through the roof but after days has passed she revealed that she had always known he was the priest and cleverly twisted the truth to expose his foolishness.

This tale presents  the irony lies in the husband’s self made trap to manipulate the confession of his wife that just backlash on him because through that his wife was able to outwit him, The readers can clearly tell that the so called priest is just the woman's husdband pretending which can be literally consdered as a comdeci part of the storty and the absurdity of the husband's jealousy. The characters motivation can be vividly seen. The husband’s fear of losing control over his wife and his obsessive desire to continue his undeniably deceitful actions and the Wife’s action which shows patience and intelligence which allow her to use it as a weapon to contain and control the male authority over her and she does not just seek a mere revenge on her husband but also aims to reclaim her power pr control over herself and to exposed the unbelieveable virtue and belief of her husband. . Moreover, The theme of this literary piece explores power, gender dynamics, and the consequences of mistrust. It shows how marriage, when grounded in control rather than respect, becomes a prison for someone in it. I would argue that the story did not contain love because possessive love and love that is full of just assumptions is just insecurity.

This tale offers the reader a message about love I personally do not want to be involved with, trust, respect, and the danger of trying to dominate and control someone. Through boccaccio character he  portrays societal norms that hide the male insecurity by overstepping on the boundaries of a woman or the independence itself. The wife’s clever plan of her situation is not about deception but an act to stop an unjust system some people believed in. Many years have already passed but this kind of tale unfortunately remains relevant in its portrayal of toxic control which make this tale entertaining and somehow thought provoking because in today's generation a lot of people settle for less and believe that one must obey, just obey. People need to learn the power in equality when it comes to relationship.
